Parents and CRYFaC Families,
Happy New Year to all of you and your families! I hope everyone enjoyed the Holidays! Planning for the 2023 Season began last month, and I am looking forward to a great year in 2023 and building upon the success from last year. I am hoping that I can get the new website up and running before the end of the month, and it will be ready to go for registration for our clinics and regular season. Our off season program will continue to focus on developing the kids individual and group skills. The kids will have the opportunity to further develop the skills they learned last season. Our clinic dates, times, and grade groups at Carmel Sports Club are as follows:
March 11, 2023 Grades 4 and 5 3:30pm-5:00pm
March 18, 2023 Grades 2 and 3 3:30pm-5:00pm
March 23, 2023 Grades K and 1 3:30pm-5:00pm
These will be open to all, and they are non-contact clinics. We will have Coaches and Players from our Carmel Rams Varsity Football Team on hand to help out as well.
Our April and May Practices and Clinics which will be open to all, and will be non-contact. They are on the following dates, location TBD:
April 16th and 30th 5:30pm-7:30pm
May 7th and 21st 5:30pm-7:30pm
For June and July only registered players will be allowed to attend. I am also working with Coach Cayea on having a camp the last week of June. Once we get it finalized, I will pass the information along, and I’m not sure if we will have helmets and shoulder pads on. For right now here are our Practice dates (one or more might turn into a 7 on 7, or linemen specific workout:
June 4th and 11th 5:30pm-7:30pm
July 16th and 23rd 5:30pm-7:30pm
**From July 24th-August 6th there will be no practices, the kids are completely off.
We are planning to go back to Met Life this August as our deposit is already in. With that said, we are looking to have our teams participate in full scrimmages with Yorktown. That will mean that the kids will need 10 practices, or 20 hours of practice to scrimmage! I will be getting the preseason Jets schedule sometime in April or May when they are released.
Right now I have us starting official practice on August 7, 2023. The extra week of practice will hopefully help give the kids plenty of time to accumulate their hours.
We will have equipment distribution the beginning of June, and I would like to have our parent meeting in June as well before the summer begins. As for what teams we will have, that is all dependent on what we get in terms of registrations. The goal is definitely to have the four teams (8u,9u,10u, and 11u), but we need to have at least 18-20 kids per level because it is too difficult to field a team with less than that. Also I want to have the kids play with their specific age groups if possible. They will be much more competitive when playing kids that are their own age.
We will be having our first Board meeting of the year on January 11, 2023, 6:30-7:00pm at GFMS. As always, we welcome any parent feedback, comments, or concerns. In an effort to stay organized, I am attaching the parent comment form that must be filled out if you would like speak at the meeting.
